King of the 80's, Lord of the Stars, Guardian of the Galaxy.

In honor of finally being able to go see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, I thought it would be a perfect week to acknowledge Star Lord.

HOOKED ON A FEELING

It's hard not to love Star Lord, with his witty comebacks and 80's music references.

However there is a lot more to the whimsical over confident Star Lord than many of us have witnessed on the big screen. How so? Well I'm glad you asked. Here are five fun facts about Marvel's comic book Peter Quil.

1. Peter Quill's mother was killed by the Ariguan Sith-Lord Rruothk'ar.

Yup at age eleven Peter Quill witnessed his mom being murder by Rrouthk'ar who had been sent to kill all of the Quills, lucky for us he missed young Peter, who is apparently the hide and seek champion of the galaxy. P.S. The term Sith-Lord was used my marvel a year before it ever entered George Lucas' script for Star Wars.

2. Peter Quill worked for NASA.

After witnessing his mother's death, Quill ran away from his orphanage, studied hard and made it into NASA's Eve program, he even stole a space ship at one point, all in hope of revenging his mothers death.

3. Star Lord has Actual Super Powers.

Not just a man in a cool ass space suit Star Lord actually possesses enhanced healing powers. For those less than infrequent times when Star Lord manages to become injured beyond his own healing ability, Star lord's faithful companion, Ship, could help to heal him.

4. Those Guns Though...

Marvel

That nifty gun that Star Lord has is more than meets the eye, it's actually an element gun. Element guns use all four elements (earth, wind, fire, and water.) Acting as a portal, it pulls its elemental power from a planet. The limit of the gun is only found within the limit of Star Lord's imagination. Think Green Lantern's ring but...its a  freakin' gun!

5. Star Lord has killed a lot of people...like a lot.

He once killed 350,000 innocent people to generate enough power to subdue his much more powerful foe, The Falen One; who was actually Galactus' first herald. And that was just once. If it makes you feel better though, he renounced his Star Lord title shortly after and allowed himself to be turned into the Klyn Interstellar Prison. Don't worry though you can take the man out of Star Lord but you can't take the Star Lord out of the man.
